Safe Berks, formerly Berks Women in Crisis, provides a safe haven and ongoing support system for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
The Celebration of Peace is Safe Berks’ annual signature event bringing together our community to honor champions of peace while raising critical funds to support survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Together, we celebrate resilience, recognize impact, and reaffirm our commitment to building a safer Berks County for all. The celebration of peace will be on May 2, 2026 at the DoubleTree of Reading.
Abusers use specific behaviors to control victims. Red Flags include: history of abusing others; excessive flattery and/or criticism; extreme jealousy; always wanting to know where you are; & accusations of infidelity. Watch out for Red Flags and reach out for advice or help.
On Dec. 12, 2016, Berks Women in Crisis, also known as BWIC, announced our new name, Safe Berks, to more than 400 people at our 40th Anniversary Celebration of Peace. Check out the video (on right) about our decision to change our name to Safe Berks!
