Save the date: Saturday, June 19, 2021!
Due to the rising cases of COVID-19 in our area and around the country, we have decided to postpone our Celebration of Peace event. However, we will still come together as a community, and give the award winners and sponsors the recognition they deserve. We are going to combine our Celebration of Peace with our Walk For NO MORE! The combined event will take place on Saturday, June 19th in West Reading. We look forward to honoring John and Lisa Gallen with our Vision for Peace award, and the United Way of Berks County and Blankets of Hope with our Voices for Change awards. Thanks to Don and Ann Moll for serving as hosts. We are also grateful to our Host Committee.
More info will follow as event details are confirmed, but we want you to know what we are thinking… Having a morning event will align with our message to our survivors that “each day is a fresh start.” We will “start” that special day bright and early with a fun breakfast of individual-serve foods outside, under rented tents. We will present a short award presentation and show videos on a big screen. Following the award presentation, our award winners will lead the walk down Penn Avenue. Volunteers, Employees, Sponsors, Donors, and Community Advocates will be asked to participate in the walk as well. The route is only 4 or 5 blocks to the 400 block of Penn Avenue. We will give out event shirts to all participants. For more info, or to become a sponsor, please contact Mindy McIntosh, Director of Development, at MindyM@SafeBerks.org. Thank you for your support. Together, we can build a Safe Berks!
